Held on 31 July, 2:00 PM in the NEGS Assembly Hall, the students' generosity made a real difference.
On top of their hair donations, the NEGS community raised a fantastic $4,154—surpassing their original goal of $1,000. This money will go towards cancer foundation programs, while the collected hair will be turned into wigs for those battling cancer.
Fiona Purkiss, NEGS receptionist and professional hairdresser, generously gave her time and expertise to help the students prepare their hair for donation, ensuring it met the requirements for wig making.
NEGS Principal Liz van Genderen was full of praise for the students: “We’re incredibly proud of our students for their selflessness and dedication to helping others. This event showcases their generosity and their understanding of how much of a difference they can make in their community.”
The Ponytail Project is dedicated to providing high-quality wigs to people experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions like cancer and alopecia. The contributions from NEGS students are crucial in bringing comfort and confidence to those in need. This initiative relies on the ongoing support of individuals and communities to keep up its vital work.
