Since 1895, NEGS has benefited from the generosity and support of its community, students, parents, staff, past families, and alumni. This philanthropic support has ensured that NEGS has continued to advance and flourish over the years.
Today, more than ever, we look to the future with optimism and hope.
We ask you to consider your philanthropic support to further the mission of NEGS, through NEGS Flourishing Annual Giving. Your gift, either towards the capital development of our learning and boarding facilities, or through support of scholarships and bursaries, will have an impact on current and future students.
There is a clear vision for the future, and our school is preparing to meet the ever-changing educational requirements and needs of the NEGS community.
In 2022, with the help of the NEGS community, our priorities are transforming our boarding facilities, upgrading the Junior School playground, and to continuing to facilitate the enrolments of students, whom, without the offering of scholarships and bursaries would not be able to receive a NEGS education.
To ensure our facilities meet a modern-day boarding community's ongoing and changing needs, our priority is a refurbishment of the boarding facilities to provide a contemporary and modern environment. Boarding is central to the life of NEGS, and is close to the hearts of Old Girls and current students alike. Refurbishing the boarding facilities is a major goal of NEGS Flourishing so Boarders can continue to live, relax and build lifelong friendships.
Exploring, imagining, and creating are key to learning in our Junior School. The Forest is a favourite area of the Junior School playground where our young boys and girls play and create. As part of NEGS Flourishing, a playground upgrade is planned to build nesting platforms in The Forest, creating a space for imagining, learning, and performing.
The gift of a NEGS education to students who otherwise might not experience it is made possible through our scholarships and bursaries. Your gift will ensure we continue to offer opportunities and hope to these students, whilst building diversity, academic, leadership, and sporting talent, and importantly, to continue accessibility for rural and regional families.
We have a clear vision of our future, and your gift will enable us to meet our student needs sooner.
'Over the course of seven years at NEGS, and since, I have never regretted that arbitrary decision by my parents, because friendships made then have withstood time and distance. Those anchored teen years - along with the normal laughter, tears, and Iced Vovos - gave me resilience, a willingness to adapt if not always compromise, and a belief in myself.'
Alumni, Class of 1975
'When faced with hardships, there is always someone to turn to, whether that be a friend, a classmate, a teacher or a coach. The community of NEGS welcomes and supports everyone with open arms, something that I am forever grateful for.'
Maddi, Year 12 Student
'It doesn't matter if it is in the classroom, on the sporting field, in a leadership team, or in equestrian endeavours, this school is about putting your all into everything you do.'
Year 12 Student
'After this year, I hope to be studying medicine. The strong connections I have made through my time here are priceless, not only with my peers but also the UNE, students at other schools, and members of the Armidale and NEGS community. And I can't forget the amazing memories and friends that I have made while boarding. It has truly become my home away from home, and the girls my family. The deep, lifelong connections I have made could not be replaced. The boarding mothers and staff are truly incredible at what they do - the level of care they have for every one of us stands out as they know us so personally.'
