Introducing Meg Laverty, the New Head of Boarding

Thank you for welcoming me to the NEGS community.

It is with great pleasure I take on the role of Head of Boarding.

Stemming from my background as a rural and remote health practitioner and educator, I have developed a passion for engaging and leading young women in a holistic manner through our constantly changing, dynamic and unique world.

Through my previous role as the Deputy Head of Boarding at Wenona, I found it an enormous privilege to spend my days alongside like-minded educators who share a common purpose in educating and supporting young women. I feel very strongly that the culture of NEGS, with its rich heritage of extraordinary women of wisdom, faith and diversity, aligns with my personal values.

Through having first-hand experience living on the land, I understand the struggles that families can face, from drought, destocking, floods and fire to rebirth and new growth. My husband and I continue to raise our three daughters, who have all attended boarding schools. We are proud of the resilience, compassion and preparation for meeting life challenges, with which the skills and mindsets they learnt through the boarding experience have equipped them.

I look forward to meeting the young women of NEGS and their families, as well as to helping build the growing network of the school as we empower the talented young woman of the future.

Megan Laverty,
Head of Boarding.
