Please RSVP.
Mrs Anna Abbott served as the Principal of NEGS for 10 years (from 1990 to 2000).
Mrs. Abbott’s forward-thinking leadership addressed numerous societal challenges and sought to prepare NEGS girls to meet them with confidence. She once remarked, “I hope the students who have gone through my care see that women can achieve a great deal and still be feminine and have fun in their roles as well.” She firmly believed that girls could achieve anything.
Among Mrs. Abbott’s significant accomplishments were the introduction of the International Baccalaureate program, the construction of the undercover riding arena, the establishment of the polocrosse and eventing courses, and the creation of the Multipurpose Centre.
During her tenure, NEGS’ reputation flourished, becoming the largest girls’ boarding school in the Southern Hemisphere. Mrs. Abbott was respected and admired by a generation of NEGS girls, leaving a lasting legacy. Many of those former students now choose to send their own daughters to NEGS, a testament to her enduring influence.
